Grapple Saws

During ALLMI’s most recent Technical Standards Committee meeting, the use of lorry loaders for the Grapple Saw application was discussed at length. This meeting was attended by a number of manufacturers, as well as a representative from the HSE, and the general consensus was that the use of Grapple Saws with lorry loaders created at least two possible hazards:

ALLMI has recently launched its new website, further enhancing the Association’s service provision to the lorry loader industry. The new site can be reached at the usual URL of www.allmi.com and it brings a range of new features and benefits:

CAP 1096 Postponement

Further to industry consultation, as well as trials of the proposed new requirements, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has postponed implementation of the updated ‘CAP 1096 Guidance to Crane Users on Aviation Lighting and Notification’, which was scheduled for 31st May 2021.

Tipper Grab Guidance - Coming Soon

Following a recent fatality involving overhead powerlines, as well as subsequent discussions with its Technical Standards Committee and the HSE, ALLMI is in the process of developing guidance covering tipper grab operations.

Training Boom

The importance and standing of the ALLMI scheme continue to be underlined, with the Association experiencing a 70% YTD increase in demand for training compared to 2020, and, in the case of many courses, training levels are even exceeding those experienced in 2019.
